We understand that many of you are keen to try a menstrual cup at the moment. Many cup newbies worry that it might not work for them, that it might leak or they simply don’t understand how the hell a cup can fit inside their vagina?! Well, while you’re spending so much time at home we think this is the perfect opportunity to give the BeYou Menstrual Cup a go.
Create new habits
There are so many new and exciting things for you to try out at home while in lockdown. So why not mix up your period products! Switching to a cup might be a little daunting but trying it out in the privacy of your own home is the best way to learn. We understand that many people worry about it getting stuck, travelling up too high, whether it will leak, whether it will ‘fit’ them etc. Well testing out a cup while you’re at home will give you the best chance in starting our your menstrual cup journey on the right foot. Why? Because when you’re a cup aficionado at home then it will be so easy to use while you’re out and about.
To get you started we recommend finding yourself a quiet space where you know you won’t be disturbed. Then lay a towel down if you’re on your period and practise folding and inserting your cup. We have a few instructional videos on our Youtube channel that take you through the different folds you can use.
We have also included a handy how-to-use guide with your menstrual cup that has everything you need to get started, so there really is no need to worry about using your cup for the first time!
Once you have found a fold that works for you, pinch the cup and insert it like you would a tampon making sure the stem isn’t poking outside your vagina. Remember, it’s not a tampon string! Then, have a feel with your index finger to see if it has popped open. If it hasn’t, it will feel like there is a dip in the cup and the fold will still be in place. To help your cup open simply twist your cup, press on each side or pull gently on the stem. Now you can enjoy a leak-free period for up to 12 hours. No more changing your tampon midway through your Netflix binge or checking your pad after your home workout!
Invest in your period
Investing in your period kit is never money wasted. We understand you may be a little stressed about where you’re spending your money and sanitary towels and tampons take a good chunk out of your budget. Your cup will last for around a decade and even if you have to buy a second cup, the money you spend is nowhere near the £18,000 women spend on period products in their lifetime.
Not only that, but your BeYou Menstrual Cup offers 12 hours leak-free protection no matter where you are. The small holes around the rim of the cup create a vacuum seal against your vaginal walls so no blood can escape. Perfect for when you’re pottering around the garden, on your daily walk and when you return to work.
While many of us are stuck at home on lockdown our amazing keyworkers are still venturing out to work to keep us safe and well. If you’re a keyworker and are constantly on your feet you may not feel like you have the time to go and change your pad/tampon every 4-8 hours. The BeYou Menstrual Cup will not only protect you from leaks but you can wear it for the entirety of your shift and not have to change it once. That’s why our menstrual cup is perfect for whatever your lockdown period looks like.
Remember, revamping your period habits while at home now will help future menstruating you so much! The BeYou Menstrual Cup is designed to be the only thing you need while on you’re period no matter where you are. Menstrual cups are for life, not just for lockdown!
