Which menstrual products should I use?

The answer is, it depends. When I talk about menstrual hygiene with Muslim girls and women, I often remind them that there are two different kinds, those that are outside of the vaginal canal and those that are inserted into the vaginal canal.
So a lot of us that begin menstruation are really comfortable with using menstrual pads or menstrual underwear, or a combination of both. And some of us like to have other options, such as tampons, menstrual cups and menstrual discs.
Now remember that these options are all available to us religiously and menstrual care wise, and it really depends on a few factors.
Number one, how comfortable are you with your body to use products that go into the vagina canal, where you really can't see the products, and you also can't see your menstrual flow. And yet some of them allow us to use them for longer periods of time without changing the product, such as cups and discs.
It's also important to remember that some of these products are more environmentally friendly than others. Menstrual cups are reusable, and we don't need to throw them out. And there's also cloth pads that we can use. And when we use menstrual underwear, we wash them and use them again.
Most people might use a combination of these products. So again, it's really important to reflect on what are you comfortable with, what's convenient for you? Maybe a couple of products might work best.
So again, it's important to get all of the information and to use a product that's right for you and your body.
