Should I be ashamed for wanting to try a menstrual cup?

Should I feel ashamed if I want to use a menstrual cup?

The simple answer is no, you should not feel ashamed. And here's why. Menstrual products that get inserted it into our vagina canal are not religiously impermissible. They are used to help manage our menstrual flow. So some people actually find that menstrual cups are more comfortable and more effective than using sanitary pads, for example, menstrual underwear or tampons.

So there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to try to use menstrual cups. Remember, it's our intentions that matter, and our intention is to take care of our body, to take care of our menstrual cycle. And that is what menstrual cups are for. So if you're interested in using them, it's so important that you ask this question because it can help you realise and wonder, where is the shame coming from? Where is the embarrassment coming from?

It's so important that we work to undo this because remember when we make decisions about our body, it does not matter and should not matter to anybody else because it is our body and we get to make decisions about it, and we know what's best as well.

So if you're feeling any shame, explore where this is coming from and work to really unlearn that and affirm to yourself that you're doing the best you can to take care of your body and your menstrual cycle. And using menstrual cups are part of that process.

It is so important that we do not feel limited in terms of the menstrual hygiene products that we can use. Yes, pads and underwear are always there for us to use. And there are other hygiene products as well. And as long as we have all the information and we are using them in the correct way, that's all that we are doing to help our menstrual cycle, and that's ultimately all that matters.
