How do I know if I'm burnt out?

So I've been asked, how do I know if I'm burnt out? I'm feeling so tired unmotivated and constantly drained.

There are many reasons why you could be constantly feeling tired unmotivated and drained with burnout being just one of those reasons.

In terms of burnout, burnout is generally seen as something that comes from excessive levels of stress, which have become unmanageable and will show itself in a combination of physical, emotional and mental exhaustion.

To a point, this is true.

But unlike stress, where everything feels too much, burnout also brings with it a sense that you just haven't got enough to give to all the demands placed on you at any given point.

And for me personally, it crept up on me very slowly. But by the time it hit me, I felt like I was drowning in exhaustion, fear and anxiety. Some of the key signs include not being able to sleep very well or at all.

For me, I suffered from insomnia. You might have a decreased sense of concentration. You may be struggling with memory issues. One of my biggest signs was that I just couldn't retain the information I used to be able to.

Increased anxiety. For me, I literally became petrified of everything. You may have physical symptoms like headaches, digestive issues, shortness of breath, lack of interest, or decrease in enjoyment in like most of your day to day activities and just a general sense of helplessness and discontent.

It's really important if you're feeling any of those things or any of these things that I've described that you seek support. That is, the key, is to seek support.
